Preferred Hotels in Copenhagen
The Arthur Hotel Group – two hotels that are both a bit larger than they feel. Located in the heart of a historic Copenhagen nook that looks like a metropolis but has the feel of a village. Close to Torvehallerne (Copenhagen’s finest food marketplace), close to the city’s historic lakes where the locals jog morning, noon, evening, and close to Nørreport – Denmark’s busiest train and bus station.
Ibsens Hotel. You’ll see art in the streets and galleries, crafts in the shops and people enjoying a beer outside on the staircases – especially in the summer. The neighbourhood is incorporated into the hotels décor. From the lobby to the guest rooms; art and high quality handicraft are what characterizes the hotel – the ceramic vases in the windowsills and the baskets are made by some of the neighbors. This is a home of wonderful art and the home of many artists. Accepting the alternative currency ‘artmoney’ as means of payment, as the first hotel in the world.
Hotel Kong Arthur. The historic residence still looks like it was built in 1882, located at the end of a small cobblestone alley. Inside the historic walls the rooms are unique in their décor. The vibe is modern, even though there is fire in the fireplace, herringbone parquet floors, pillows in the windowsills – and, as you would expect given the name Hotel King Arthur, a suit of armor or two.
All 214 rooms are designed and furnished with affection for the old building and it’s personality. Each room has its own original and unconventional details. Some rooms are furnished with the new Copenhagen style decor, and again, many rooms have the classic and cozy Kong Arthur furnishing. In addition, there is studio apartments with a fully equipped kitchen that are particularly suitable for families.
Luxurious and laid-back atmosphere, warm hospitality and uncompromising sustainability are Guldsmeden Hotels’ guiding principles. Bryggen Guldsmeden is no exception and is called Denmark’s most accomplished sustainable luxury hotel. With 212 rooms furnished and decorated in a unique Nordic-meet-Bali style, where all textiles are made from eco- and recycled materials. The showers not only guarantee perfectly temperate water, but save between 50 and 90 percent of water consumption. And the Signatur breakfast is of course organic.
The hotel’s cozy courtyard with the Bali-style pool invites you to relax. Most importantly, the ”Bryggen family” promises to spoil you throroughly thoughout the day with loads of loving attention and whatever else you may wish for!
